WeatherApp is an Android application built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It retrieves forecasts from SMHI's open API and lets users search for places, use their current location and save favourites for quick access.
The project began as a university assignment in mobile development and was later extended, restructured and refined into a more complete portfolio project. The work has covered both technology and user experience, including a clearer interface, improved structure and more robust data handling.
The app uses Retrofit for network requests, Hilt for dependency injection and local storage to display previously saved weather data when an update fails. This makes the experience more reliable and avoids leaving the user with an empty screen during temporary network problems.
The project demonstrates how I work with Compose-based Android development, external API integration and iterative improvement of an existing application. It also shows how I take an initial student project and develop it into a more stable and presentable product.
